Couples Therapy

Starting couples therapy can be exciting for some and daunting for others. I want to help you both feel accepted, heard, and understood knowing that your relationship is my client.

  • I have specialized in couples therapy for over 15 years. My training includes Gestalt Couples Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

  • We will meet together for sessions (approximately 50-60 minutes). In some cases, meeting individually once or twice with each person can be beneficial. If either of you are interested in individual therapy, I'll be happy to provide referrals.

  • In our first session, we will discuss what you hope to get out of our work together and how often to meet. 

  • The charge for couples therapy is $150.00 per session.

  • Helping couples navigate life transitions, including engagement, marriage, parenthood, career shifts, and relocation.

  • Counseling couples through reconnection and building trust.

  • Improving communication & conflict management. Learn strategies to manage disagreements constructively and find compromises that strengthen your relationship.

I will listen, observe, provide feedback, build on your strengths, and suggest ideas for attending to your relationship between sessions. Whether you want to enhance your connection & communication, are facing a relationship crisis, or want to learn how to avoid a crisis, I encourage you to reach out.

How often will we meet and how long will we be in therapy?

This depends on why you are seeking therapy and how motivated you both are to work on your relationship and yourselves. As we explore your goals, we will discuss realistic expectations for the therapy process based on why you're seeking couples therapy. 

In the beginning, meeting weekly to every other week is helpful. For couples who are in crisis, meeting more than once per week is an option.

What qualifications and experience do you have working with couples?

Working with couples as a psychotherapist has been a passion since the start of my therapy career in 2008. My formal training includes Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Gestalt Couples Therapy. I draw on a range of clinical theories and interventions when working with couples.

How can we get the most out of couples therapy?

People benefit from couples therapy when they're willing to own their part in the relationship struggles. If we want our relationship to change, we have to be willing to make some changes. I also believe that couples who want their long-term relationship to be fulfilling, close, and as healthy as possible benefit from couples counseling on a regular basis. This might be a check-in 1-2 times/year. It could be a bi-monthly or monthly meeting through a time of transition. Being intentional about
